And the Wedding Madnees Carries On!

I have been making favors like crazy! I have had so many custom orders that I have hardly had a moment to do much of anything else. I literally ran out of paper, so I was able to post.

I have been approached by a wedding website to start making wedding favors for them. I am designing a few items exclusively for them (there is an image here of one of my rough drafts) and also doing my Hako boxes in exclusive papers for them. I can't mention any names, but I think it may be a lucrative plan! I'm emailing my ideas tomorrow!

I also may be signing on to be a vendor at a big bridal expo in Hartford. I am a little nervous. I use to do craft shows all the time and organize them. But I think this is on much larger scale. It runs about 4 hours and attracts 2000+ people. My thought is that if even 3 - 5% of those people place orders with me, I'm doing very well. But who knows. What if no one does? What if in person people think my work is crap? Hmmmm.... If anyone is reading this and has any advice, please - by all means leave a comment!

It's Origami Rad

I found all of these awesome items on Etsy. These were a few of my favorite origami items.

This beautiful ornament was made by PLBcrafter. She says it's like "math in motion", I agree wholeheartedly!

I found this shop called WindTwirler that specializes in origami earrings. She uses teensy weensy paper and folds teeny tiny masterpieces.

Then I found this fantastic hair clip. I had no idea that it was made from paper. Amazing! Made by Miss Manatee.

I Heart Origami

I find my work taking a turn more and more toward Japanese origami. I love it! It's my new obsession. It makes my craft easier, less wasteful and in some cases - sturdier.

My most recent creation is inspired by Lillies. It serves as a weird functional dish. I thought it would make nice place settings or neat serving dishes for hors d'oevers or sushi.

I think I may try and find other origami artists and see if I can't blog a little about them. Maybe I'll learn something new.

Welcome to Paper Fooey!

I decided I should start a new blog. Something just for my small business, Paper Fooey. I make cards, boxes, bags, and tags from designer specialty paper. I use origami and cut and paste techniques. It seems as though my little business is starting to take off.

Recently I have had a bunch of custom orders. One for wedding favors, one for rectangle boxes for a small cookie business called Trashy Cookies, and one for gift envelopes for a small business that makes childrens bags called Hearts of Holland. It's been kind of great actually. It's nice to make money do something you love AND helping people create cool unique packaging.
